As members of the Land and Liberty Coalition, we are proud to stand with farmers and landowners in their right to choose how to use their land. Across the nation, many farmers are exploring options such as leasing portions of their land to solar energy production, offering a stable income stream that can provide financial security during droughts, floods or periods of volatile crop prices.

Unfortunately, overly restrictive ordinances in some areas are stripping farmers of their ability to make these important decisions for their families and their land.

Adding solar energy to farmland does not mean abandoning agriculture. In fact, solar can complement farming practices by allowing the land to rest and rejuvenate while providing long-term revenue stability. This can help farmers maintain their properties, pass them down to future generations, and even return to farming once a solar project is complete.

The farmers and landowners we stand with play an essential role in our communities and in the broader economy. It is our responsibility to ensure that they are free to make decisions about how best to use their land, as they have done for generations. We ask our neighbors to join us in supporting landowners’ rights and ensuring they are empowered to make the best choices for their future.
